Welcome to the new school year!

08/20/18

Hello parent partners!

Welcome to the new school year, and a full week of school! If I have not yet met or seen you in person, I look forward to connecting with you at some point soon!

Just a few things to put on your schedule- Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 6th from 5:30-7:30. We will meet in my classroom (room 34) from 5:30-6:15 and then gather altogether as a school from 6:20-6:40. Picture day is the following day, Friday, September 7th.

Another thing to note this week- We will begin MAP testing tomorrow, August 21st. The MAP test is a computer-based assessment that measures growth, and every student gets a unique set of test questions based on their responses to previous questions. Since the assessment covers material from 2nd through 5th grade in order to see what students know and what they may have not learned or been exposed to yet, it is important that we remind our kiddos that their job is just to do the best that they can, and to expect that they may not know the answers, and that is okay! It helps us to better meet their educational needs. Below is a link to a FAQ document for parents.

Last thing- I am going to hold off on homework for another week. For us, homework is fairly minimal (nightly reading and daily math practice), but I think that we might need another week of easing into the school year before homework begins.

Thank you for your support!
