https://gm.greatminds.org/en-us/knowledge-for-grade-5-em-m5l3

Please let me know if you see this screen (below) when you copy and paste the link from above.  I hope so.  Watch the video and open the problem set and lesson 3 template as well.

If you didn't take yesterday's 1 problem quiz, please watch this video and make up your own problem after finishing this.

Or, you can complete this problem.  This is a two step equation.  First, do the inverse operation of addition, which is subtraction.

Solve.

Next, do the inverse operation of multiplication.  Divide both sides by 3.

What is b?

3b + 6  =  43

5th grade math lesson Friday March 20 - if you didn't get your chrome book until yesterday, try to catch up over the weekend. Do your best. I trust that you are doing the best that you can right now.

lesson 24

I want you to do the problem set as well.  Here is the link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTA0-DqWCfQ

I have been getting photos of class work from some students.  Their notes look great!  Remember to pause the video and think about what your answer will be before the online instructor gives you the steps and the answers.  This is very important to do.

Watch, think, listen carefully, push pause, think of how you would do the problem, then see how it unfolds correctly.  What steps did you get right?  Did you think through the problem carefully BEFORE the instructor gave the answer?

Take good care!!

lesson 32

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT24r8lvLmM

Please take good notes.  Write a sentence or two that tells me how the lesson went for you.  Remember to think about what the teacher is saying.  Don't just write notes without thinking deeply about what the online teacher is explaining.

Take a picture of your notes each day and send it to me, or....take a picture of all your notes from the week on Friday, and send the photos to me on Friday.  I will give you credit for your work for the week if you show me that you have completed it.

I suggest you begin your math lessons each day at the same time.  10:00 seems like a good time to begin your lessons.

If you don't know your x's facts by instant recall, please include studying your times facts in your math lessons.

I hope you and your family are well.

I taught you the algorithm (short cut) in class on Wednesday)

Remember the word reciprocal?  Leave the first number alone. Change the division into a X.  Rewrite the second number as a reciprocal (flip it), then multiply going across.  That's most likely the way your parents were taught how to do this problem. That's how I learned it in school.  You are learning how to have flexibility in your thinking and understand how to do these types of problems at a deeper level of understanding.  Good work!!!

The rest you will have to figure out with an adult's help OR best yet, figure it out on your own using the examples already done for you.

If you get done early, remember that you will be reading silently for 30 minutes tonight or this afternoon.

Are you able to read about 1 page per minute?  If so, then you should read about 30 pages in your book.

If you are at 1/2 page per minute, then half of 30 pages would be 15 pages.

Or, perhaps you are somewhere in between.  Work hard to meet your AR goal.
